The Visitor’s Guide to Cal Middle

Neighborhood students

Neighborhood students make up about 75% of Cal’s population. Students moving into our attendance area have priority to attend Cal, and can register at any time with a valid address at the SCUSD Enrollment Center. Students who have been continually living in the neighborhood will simply be rolled over from their elementary school after 6th grade into Cal for 7th grade.

Students living in Sacramento, but outside the Cal attendance area

Students wishing to attend Cal who reside outside of our attendance area can apply for seats through the district’s Open Enrollment process.

The Open Enrollment will be available starting February 2020.

Please visit the district website to learn more about the process, and to apply!

Visitation Days

California Middle School welcomes any students interested in entering the Open Enrollment Lottery that will start in February 2020. Many prospective families like to tour with us before entering the lottery. Each tour will be led by Mrs. Egan, the Principal, or Mr. Zarate, the Assistant Principal. During the tour, students will learn about academic programs, course offerings, after school programs, athletics, and clubs.

Tours are held every Tuesday during the months of December and January. Tours begin at 9:00 am in the School Library – no registration is needed.
